Jennifer Sommer is the Cass County Commissioner for District #2. She began her first term on the board January 18, 2022 and will seek re-election for a four-year term beginning January 2023.
Jennifer is a native of Nebraska, born and raised in the Omaha/Metro area and became a resident of Cass County in 2018 when her and her husband moved into the Buccaneer Bay Community. She lives with her husband, Sean, who is a Sergeant for the Cass County Sherriff's office, and together they have a family of 6 children, two grandsons and two very spoiled dogs. After high school, Jennifer hit the workforce and started her almost 25+ year current career in the Healthcare Industry in various roles. She has operated in many different capacities throughout her career including leadership of large teams and now her current role as a lead program consultant for a very large healthcare data analytics company.
Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2018 and earned her Master's degree in Healthcare Administration/Data Analytics also from the University of Phoenix in October 2020.
Jennifer has spent most of her career working in the Healthcare and Administration field with a concentration on Administration. Additionally, Jennifer is the Director of a non-profit organization in Cass County called Cass County Behind the Badge. This is a non-profit organization that supports first responders throughout Cass County. She stepped in as the Director four years ago and continues to build a strong network connecting within Cass County to support first responders and their families.
Her organization is based solely on fund raising activities hosted throughout Cass County including an event at the Cass County Fair. Her organization also provides home cooked meals to all first responders within Cass County who are required to work on major holiday's such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and Easter.
Jennifer has a strong passion for cooking and smoking great BBQ, cooking for others, and networking within her community to continue to build strong relationships.
