ABOUT THIS OFFICE
Cass County was one of the first counties to adopt zoning in 1969. It is the goal of Zoning to encourage growth in an orderly fashion while at the same time preserving and encouraging commercial and industrial growth.
The Cass County Zoning Department serves the rural Cass County area and we provide building permits and inspection services through interlocal agreements for the Villages of Avoca, Alvo, Cedar Creek, Elmwood, Greenwood, Manley, Murray, Nehawka, South Bend, Union and Weeping Water.
SERVICES OF THIS OFFICE
Requests for Building Permits (including Flood Plain Permits), County Road Access Permits, Changes in Zoning, Applications for Conditional Use Permits, Platting or replatting of subdivisions and other land use changes are administered by this office.
The Zoning Department also maintains agendas and minutes for the Cass County Planning Commission. The Planning Commission holds public hearings to review and make recommendations to the County Board on Amendments, Conditional Use Permits and Subdivision requests. The Planning Commission consists of nine members appointed by the County Board of Commissioners for a term of three years.
