Did you know that Cass County is home to 13,000 businesses of all different sizes? Over half of the waste produced in Cass County is derived from business sources. Below is listed some resources to assist businesses in reducing their waste burden.

US Environmental Protection Agency - WasteWise
EPA's WasteWise encourages organizations and businesses to achieve sustainability in their practices and reduce select industrial wastes. WasteWise is part of EPA's sustainable materials management efforts, which promote the use and reuse of materials more productively over their entire life cycles.

Firstar Fiber
Firstar Fiber can provide a number of resource management services including:

  • recycling audits and training
  • zero waste programs
  • material brokerage
  • grant writing assistance
  • recyclable processing services.

Keep Cass County Beautiful
The mission of the Keep Cass County Beautiful Program is to educate, enable and encourage all Cass County residents to take greater responsibility for enhancing their community environment.

Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ)
The NDEQ's mission is to protect the quality of Nebraska's Environment - our land, air and water resources. The Land & Waste Division is responsible for enforcing regulations and providing assistance. They have several grant programs including:

  • Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant
  • Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grant
  • Scrap Tire Programs and Projects Grant

Nebraska State Recycling Association
NSRA is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides technical and grant assistance to recycling programs and communities state-wide. They also administer the small recycling equipment grants with funds from the Nebraska Environmental Trust. NSRA maintains a recycling hotline where every year, callers can learn where to recycle a variety of materials.

US Zero Waste Business Council
The US Zero Waste Business Council's mission is to educate, inform and document the performance of Zero Waste Businesses using scientific methods to help businesses and communities become more healthy and sustainable.

WasteCap Nebraska
WasteCap Nebraska is a statewide, member-based 501(c)(3) organization providing education, training and services to help businesses and communities reach their full potential through practices that support economic, environmental and societal priorities.
