The office of the Register of Deeds is an elected office. The term of office is four years and the next county election is in 2022. A fine attention to detail and accuracy is helpful in understanding complex legal descriptions and the multi-faceted documents encountered every day.

The land records date to the beginning of Cass County in 1855. All deeds for land transfers since that date can be searched by legal description or by name. The records in this office are open to the public and copies of accessible recorded instruments can be obtained for a small fee.
