Dave Nielsen is the Cass County Commissioner for the 4 th District, which includes Weeping Water, South Bend, Louisville, Manley and Greenwood. He was elected in November 2004 and was sworn in on January 4, 2005. His term will expire December 2008.

Dave decided to run for county government as he felt there needed to be a change. One of his main goals is to have better roads for public use. He is also interested in the future growth and security of the county.

Commissioner Nielsen is a life long resident of Weeping Water where he graduated from high school. After graduation he served 3 years in the U.S. Army. While stationed in Germany for one year he received his Sargent stripes. He came home to farm after an honorable discharge.

Dave helped to organize the Otoe County Rural Water District #3 as Chairman. He is currently Director of NRD District #2 and his term will expire in 2 years. Dave also serves as Treasurer on the Board of the Rural Fire District.

Dave and his wife Beth, reside in Weeping Water, where they’ve owned and operated the Nielsen Fertilizer business the past 40 years.
