Janet M. McCartney is the Cass County Commissioner for District #2.  She was elected in November of 2010 and serves through 2014.

Janet has lived in Cass County for over 20 years.  She was born and raised in Iowa, moving to Omaha after high-school, where she met and married her husband Paul. They have spent half of their married life in Sarpy County and chose to return to Cass County in 1995, where they had lived the first 5 years of their marriage. 

Janet earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Management from the College of St. Mary in 1987 and a Master of Arts degree in Management from Bellevue University in 1993. Janet has worked most of her adult life, and is currently working as a Senior Application Architect for First Data Resources in Omaha.  Janet and her husband have two sons, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Janet has served on the Buccaneer Bay Sanitary Improvement District board for 8 years.  Janet has chaired both of the board’s roads and water committees, tracking various improvement projects and providing both her leadership and experience.   Janet also serves as an elder at her church.  In her spare time Janet likes to spend time with family, read mystery novels, and golf.
