John A. Baroni is the Cass County Commissioner for the 1st District. He was first elected in November 2004 and was re-elected in 2008 and serves through December 2013.
John is a 39 year resident of Cass County, born and raised in Pennsylvania and the son of a coal miner. He worked as a dairy farmhand until he enlisted in the US Air Force. He served 26 years and retired with an honorable discharge in 1988, making Plattsmouth, Nebraska home for him and his wife Janice. They have four children and four grandchildren.
John started his own business in 1971 and in 1984 opened Johns Appliance Sales and Service providing sales and service to the community. His son Matt joined him in 1993.
John served 7 years on the Plattsmouth Planning Commission and 4 years on the Plattsmouth City Council providing the experience to help guides the county and shapes its economic development.
As Commissioner he currently serves on the Local Emergency Planning Committee, City/County Advisory Committee, State Emergency Response Commission, Plattsmouth Emergency Medical Services Board, Plattsmouth Main Street Board of Directors, Sarpy/Cass Department of Health Board, County Building Committee and County Finance Committee.
